We’ve completed Work Package 2 (WP2)—and the findings are both eye-opening and motivating. Across all five partner countries, our desk research, surveys, and focus groups revealed a strong interest in sustainable finance and AI tools, but also critical gaps in curriculum, resources, and training.
Key highlights from WP2:
- ESG education remains theoretical and fragmented, often offered only as electives.
- Students want more practical, real-world training—case studies, simulations, and hands-on tools.
- Professors need support and training to integrate ESG frameworks and AI technologies into their teaching.
- AI tools like chatbots are underutilized, with access, training, and institutional policies still evolving.
Despite these gaps, we also identified promising good practices, such as university ESG labs, student clubs, pilot AI modules, and early collaborations with industry.
WP2 confirms the need for interdisciplinary, AI-supported, and applied learning pathways—exactly what GenESG aims to deliver in the next stages.
We’re now entering WP3, where we begin building the curriculum, skills packs, and training academy. Onward!
